Up Close and Personal

My new i-phone 5 is officially off limits to the kids. But I had to laugh when I found these photos on it the other day. I didn't even know that sneaky guy got to it!

Daddy-daughter Dance

Last Saturday night, Sydney and Dan had a little date and went to the Daddy-daughter Sock Hop sponsored by the local girl scouts. Syd loved dancing, laughing and having her picture taken with her dad. But she reported the best part of the evening was--the dessert! So many yummy cookies, cake-pops, brownies and cup cakes!

  Sydney is all dressed up for her big night. She even asked me to curl her hair--that NEVER happens!

Mikelle's Winter Concert

Last Thursday, Ethan, Syd and I heard Mikelle perform in her winter concert. She performed 3 numbers with the 8th grade chorus; 3 numbers with her select choir, Cantare; and then the choir and chamber orchestra combined for 2 numbers. She did a beautiful job! The students were well prepared and performed with poise. We were sorry Dan had to miss it, so we recorded a few songs for him. Enjoy!

Skate Party

The kids were out of school for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We met our friends, the Candlands, at the skating rink in Purcellville. Instead of the old-fashioned skates, the kids all like to use roller blades. They also have a cool device made out of PVC pipe that helps the little ones stay upright, when they are a bit wobbly. The rink was very crowded, but most of the kids managed to have fun. Ethan did one lap around the rink and then dissolved into tears. He had been sick last week and I'm afraid his stomach hadn't fully recovered. Luckily, we made it home without any disasters in the car--Hallelujah!
